I know you feel the world has abandoned you.
Flung you into waters
It knew were too deep
And asked you
Screamed at you
To swimTo fight
Against the waves
That towered over you
Crashed against you
Like the water in your lungs
Never seemed to come out
That you choke on even now.
And yes,
You were unfairly given that burden
.It was never yours
And somehow always yours
At the same time.
Thrown into the deep end
With nothing to hold on to
Nothing to rely on but yourself
Told to swim
When all you could do was drown.
It was not fair,
Is not,
And yet,
Here you are anyway
Treading water as it threatens to take you under
Saving that breath
Because you have no idea
When your next will be.
And, in a way,
The world has abandoned you,
Along with the people you’ve loved
And the foundations you’ve built
All swept away in the ocean that you can never seem to conquer.
And yet,
Here you are.
Still swimming, still fighting,
Still keeping your head above the water
While the rest of the world drowns.
